The role of the Board will be to provide oversight of the Fund operations to safeguard the interest of the investors

Vice Chairman – Eng. Ahmed Suliman Al Rajhi

Chairman of AEPim and Vice Chairman of the Al Rajhi Holding Group
  • Eng. Ahmed Suliman Al Rajhi sits on the board of several of the Al Rajhi Holding Group’s companies. He also sits on the National Industrial Committee and is a Council Member of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce & Industry.
  • As the Chairman of AEPim, he brings with him his vast experience in property development and corporate relationships from within the GCC.
  • Sheik Ahmed Suliman is also the Chairman of Industrial Committee and Board Member of Riyadh Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Saudi Arabia.

Board Member – Federico Tauber

Al Rajhi Holding Group
  • President and CEO of Tameer Holding, a major real estate company in the UAE and Group Chief Strategist at Al Rajhi Holding Group.
  • Prior to this, he was the Managing Director, Head of Global Commercial Banking for Latin America South Region, Member of the Board of Directors of The Branch of Citibank in Argentina, President of Citicorp Administradora de Inversiones S.A. and Director of Gire S.A., Citigroup.


The Board has delegated to the Investment Committee the responsibility for approving investment and divestment decisions recommended by the Trustee Manager and comprise the following members:

Chairman – Federico Tauber

Al Rajhi Holding Group
  • President and CEO of Tameer Holding, a major real estate company in the UAE and Group Chief Strategist at Al Rajhi Holding Group.
  • Prior to this, he was the Managing Director, Head of Global Commercial Banking for Latin America South Region, Member of the Board of Directors of The Branch of Citibank in Argentina, President of Citicorp Administradora de Inversiones S.A. and Director of Gire S.A., Citigroup.

Expert Member – Dato Dr Amin Abdullah

Partner & Chief Executive Officer, Al Masah Capital Asia
  • Prior to joining Al Masah Capital, Dr. Amin was the Managing Director of Brunei Investment Agency, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.
  • He has more than 15 years of investment experience and served on the boards of many companies in diverse sectors.
  • Dr. Amin has a Bachelor degree from Queen Mary College, University of London; a Master degree and PhD degree from Imperial College, University of London, and is a CFA Charterholder and member of CFA Singapore.


The Fund will operate in line with Shariah principles in terms of investment qualification and capital structuring, consistent with the targeted objective of serving the investment needs of Shariah-based investors.

For its Shariah compliance process, the Fund has appointed a panel of established Shariah Scholars to advise the Fund on all Shariah matters and to approve its investment activities. The Shariah Committee will provide oversight to ensure that all investments adhere with Shariah principles and comprise the following members:

Dr. Ashraf Bin Md Hashim

  • Dr. Arshaf is the CEO of International Shari’ah Academy for Islamic Finance Consultancy (ISRA Consultancy) and a Professor at the International Centre of Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF).
  • Currently, he is the Chairman of the Shari’ah Committee of Bursa Malaysia, Securities Commission of Malaysia and the National Fatwa Council of Malaysia.
  • Dr. Ashraf holds a PhD in Islamic Law from Birmingham University, U.K. MA, Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh (Jordan) and BA, Shariah (Madinah). He was a Chevening Fellow (2007) at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, United Kingdom.

Ustaz Mustazah Bahari

  • Member of the Association of Shariah Advisors Malaysia, Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, and the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) Appeal Board.
  • Ustaz Mustazah is currently the Shariah Advisor to AEP Investment Management and he is also a resource person for the Shariah Court in Singapore.
  • Ustaz Mustazah holds a Masters in Usuluddin-al-Quran & Sunnah from UKM, Malaysia and a BA (Hons) Shariah from Madina University.

Ustaz Mohd Kamal Mokhtar

  • Consultant and Shariah Advisor at SHAPE Financial Corp. (Virginia and Kuwait), Judge in the Appeal Board of the Shariah Court, Director of the Association of Islamic Religious Scholars and Teachers of Singapore (PERGAS) and Chairman of PERGAS’s Financial Shariah Advisory Council (FSAC).
  • Ustaz Mohd Kamal holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Islamic Studies and Prophetic Traditions from Islamic University of Medina and a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences (Botany, Zoology) from National University of Singapore. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Finance from International Islamic University of Malaysia.
